For the Love of Preloved

And all things thrifty

I guess you could say my passion for selling preloved and secondhand clothing started many years ago.

Twice a year, my cousin and I would clear out our wardrobes with the clothing we no longer wore and hauled it all to our local swap meet. We did this for the simple reason of making a little extra cash.

Little did we know that we were actually saving our clothes from landfill by passing them on to someone else. But at 17 years old with some cash in our hands, the planet wasn’t a thought.

Older and wiser

To be completely honest with you, it’s only been in the last three years where I’ve started collecting preloved and second hand items for myself.

I have found some fabulous unique pieces that reflect my personal style and it’s so much fun dressing up and styling these items in a way that’s different to everyone else.

This beautiful dress is vintage 1970’s and I styled her with some gorgeous platform heels. I found her on Etsy and fell in love.

The Why

Buying preloved has several benefits:

  1. It’s more affordable and can help those on a budget or anyone who is wanting to save money.
  2. Reduces waste. Buying preloved prevents the item ending up in landfill.
  3. Unique items. it’s a thrill finding a one-of-a-kind or rare ‘gem’.
  4. Support charity and the community. Most Op Shops are charity based and money made goes back into the community supporting great causes.

Love Earth

If you haven’t already, I recommend checking out some of your local Op Shops or community preloved markets. You may just find that ‘Unicorn’ that will bring you the most joy than anything else in your wardrobe.

Overall, buying second hand is a sustainable and ethical choice that can save you money while also benefiting the environment and society.
